Sportage 2WD L4-2.0L SOHC (1995)
1.
Connect an R-134a refrigerant recovery station to the system service valves following the recovery station manufacturers instructions.
* NOTICE
Ensure that the recovery station has been drained of all previously recovered A/C refrigerant oil. The oil recovered during this procedure will
be used to determine A/C compressor oil removal quantity.
2.
Start the engine and allow the air conditioner to operate for several minutes.
3.
Turn the engine "OFF" and immediately (within 30 seconds) recover the R-134a refrigerant.
* NOTICE
Follow recovery procedures provided by the refrigerant recovery station manufacturer to remove the R-134a refrigerant.
4.
After refrigerant recovery is completed, check and record the quantity of oil removed from the vehicle A/C system.
^
If more than 100 cc of refrigerant oil was removed from the system, do not remove any oil from the new A/C compressor. Continue on to A/C
Compressor Replacement Procedure Removal".
^
If less than 100 cc of refrigerant oil was removed from the system, a quantity of refrigerant oil will need to be drained/removed from the new
A/C compressor (based on the difference between the quantity of oil removed during this recovery process and 100 cc). After calculating
refrigerant oil drain/remove quantity, continue on to Step 5.
Examples:
^
If 80 cc of refrigerant oil is removed from the system during the recovery process, then drain/remove 20 cc (100 cc minus 80 cc = 20 cc) of
oil from the new A/C compressor.
^
If 40 cc of refrigerant oil is removed from the system during the recovery process, then drain/remove 60 cc (100 cc minus 40 cc = 60 cc) of
oil from the new A/C compressor.
