Idle Speed: Testing and Inspection

IDLE SPEED
1. Apply the parking brake.
2. Warm up the engine to normal operating temperature.
3. Turn off all electrical loads.
4. Lift the cover on the data link connector (DLC).
5. Connect a jumper wire between ENG. TEST and GND.
6. Connect a tachometer to the data link connector (DLC) IG-terminal.

This terminal is for connecting the positive lead of non-inductive tachometers only.
The idle speed is not adjustable. The idle speed is automatically controlled by the engine control module through the idle speed control (ISC)
solenoid valve.
7. Check that idle speed is witlnn the specified range.
Idle speed (trans. in "NEUTRAL"): 800 +/- 50 RPM
8. Remove the tachometer from the DLC IG-terminal.
9. Close cover to the DLC.
10. Turn off the engine.
