Valve Clearance: Adjustments
1. Start engine and run until normal operating temperature is reached.
2. Stop engine and remove cylinder head cover.
3. Set No. 1 cylinder to TDC/compression by turning crankshaft clockwise to align timing mark on damper pulley with TDC on lower timing belt
cover.
4. Adjust valve clearance of No. 1 intake and exhaust, No. 2 intake and No. 3 exhaust as follows:
a. Use thickness gauge to measure valve clearance at each rocker arm.
b. Loosen locknut and turn adjusting bolt with screwdriver to set proper clearance.
c. Tighten locknut to specification while holding adjusting bolt in position with screwdriver.
5. Turn crankshaft on turn (full 360°) and adjust valve clearance for No. 2 exhaust, No. 3 intake, and No. 4 intake and exhaust.
6. Install cylinder head cover.
