Fuel Rail: Service and Repair
Removal

WARNING:  Fuel is explosive. When working on fuel system parts, make sure to supply adequate ventilation to the work area. Do not smoke
and keep sparks and open flames away.

REMOVAL

1. Perform Fuel Pressure Release procedure.
2. Drain the engine coolant
3. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
4. Remove two bolts holding the air intake hose assembly.
5. Loosen the clamp between the throttle body and the air intake duct.
6. Remove the four breather hoses connected to the air intake duct.
7. Disconnect the mass air flow sensor electrical connector.
8. Remove the mass air flow sensor mounting bolts.
9. Loosen the clamp at the air cleaner assembly for the air intake hose.

10. Remove the bolt from the air intake hose bracket.
11. Remove the accelerator cable bracket bolts.
12. Disconnect the accelerator cable.
13. Remove the vacuum hose that goes from the intake manifold to the vacuum pipe.
14. Disconnect the electrical connectors for the throttle position sensor, idle speed controller and EGR solenoid.
15. Disconnect the two coolant hoses from the throttle body.
16. Remove the clamp and hose from the idle speed control valve.
17. Remove the clamp and hose.
18. Remove the clamp and hose on the air rail.
19. Remove the hose from the EGR valve.
20. Remove the clamp and the brake booster vacuum hose from the plenum chamber.
21. Remove the cmise control vacuum hose from the plenum chamber.
22. Remove the two bolts and bracket from the plenum tank.
23. Remove the bottom bolt from the idle actuator bracket.
24. Remove the top two bolts from the manifold bracket.
25. Raise the vehicle on a lift.
26. Remove the bottom bolts from the manifold bracket.
27. Lower the vehicle.
28. Remove the heater inlet hose at the elbow.
29. Remove the vacuum hose at the vacuum pipe.
30. Remove the three nuts and bolts holding the plenum chamber assembly.
