Recall: Oil Seal Retainer Nut Torque - Rear Axle Bearing
Some Sportages may have rear axle bearing seal retainer nuts that are under-torqued. To correct this safety-related defect, Kia is recalling affected 1995
Sportage vehicles. If these nuts loosen or fall off, oil leakage, brake damage or lockup and wheel/axle separation from the vehicle could occur. There is
no charge to the customer for this repair.
Be advised that under applicable law, you may not sell or otherwise deliver any affected Sportage until you have inspected and repaired it pursuant to the
procedures set forth below:
VEHICLE INSPECTION PROCEDURE:
1.
Check the passenger side frame rail for a punch mark under the letter "K" of the VIN.
A.
If there is no punch mark, continue on to "Repair Procedures".
B.
If a punch mark exists under the "K" in the VIN, the campaign has already been completed. DO NOT PERFORM THE CAMPAIGN
AGAIN. Advise the customer that the campaign has previously been performed.
