Camshaft: Service and Repair
Removal
1. Disconnect negative battery cable.
2. Remove five bolts and the upper timing belt cover.
3. Remove timing belt from camshaft pulleys.
4. Remove cylinder head cover.
5. Remove camshaft pulleys.
6. Remove camshaft cap bolts in the order shown.
7. Remove camshaft caps.
8. Remove camshafts.
Installation
1. Set camshafts in cylinder head.
Notice: The exhaust camshaft has a steel dowel pin at the rear for the camshaft position sensor.
2. Apply a liberal amount of engine oil to the journals and bearings.
3. Place the camshaft in position with the dowel pin facing straight up.
