Removal
CAUTION: Refer to Air Bag(s) Arming and Disarming Procedure.
1. Disconnect the battery.
NOTE: Before the Air Bag-SRS may be serviced or repaired, the battery must be disconnected for at least 10 minutes./ Turn headlights ON.
2. Remove the screws that attach the OBD-II Data Link Connector to its mounting bracket.
NOTE: The OBD-II Data Link Connector must be removed from its mounting bracket to gam sufficient access to the lower right plastic mounting
screw.
3. Carefully remove the two upper (square shaped) plastic mounting screw trim covers by prying from the side of the covers until they have been
released from the knee bolster panel.
4. Carefully remove the four middle and lower (round shaped) plastic mounting trim covers by prying from the bottom until they have been released
from the knee bolster panel.
5. Remove the four knee air bag module mounting nuts that were exposed after removing the middle and lower (round shaped) plastic mounting trim
covers.
6. Remove the two upper plastic mounting screws that were exposed after removing the two upper (square shaped) plastic mounting screw trim
covers.
7. Remove the two lower plastic mounting screws.
8. Carefully move the knee air bag module away from the instrument panel, reach around to the rear of the module and disconnect the knee air bag
module connector.
Installation
1. Reconnect the knee air bag module connector.
2. Install the four new plastic mounting screws.
NOTE: The plastic mounting screws must be replaced anytime they are removed from the vehicle.
