3. Install the bearing on the transmission input shaft and check for smooth movement.
Flywheel
Inspection
1. Examine for cracks, scoring or discoloration of the clutch contact surface. Minor surface marring can be repaired with emery paper. Otherwise,
flywheel must be machine resurfaced or replaced.
2. Examine for damaged or worn ring gear teeth. If necessary, replace ring gear as follows:
a. Grind almost through ring gear, then cut through remaining material with chisel.
b. Heat the new ring gear to 480 - 570°F (250 - 300°C), then fit onto the room temperature flywheel. The beveled side of the ring gear must face
toward the engine side of flywheel.
Notice: Make sure there is no dirt or debris between flywheel and crankshaft flange when performing the runout check
