Fan Clutch: Testing and Inspection
INSPECTION
1. When the engine is cool, check that the fan is moving freely. If it does not, replace the fan clutch assembly.
2. When the engine is hot, resistance is felt when the fan is rotated. If not, replace the fan clutch assembly
3. Check for excessive bearing play. If there is excessive play, replace the fan clutch assembly.
4. Check to be sure there is no fluid leakage from the fan drive.
5. Check to be sure there is no deformation of the bimetal spring.
6. Remove fan. Refer to "Water Pump".
7. Remove the clutch from the fan.
8. Check for leaks.
