Drive Belt: Adjustments
Adjusting Power Steering and A/C Belt
INSPECTION
1. Inspect the drive belt for wear, cracks and other apparent damage.
2. Apply a force of 22 lbs. (98 N) to the mid-portion (between the pulleys) of the drive belt.
3. Check deflection of the belt.
Old belt: 0.35-0.43 in (9-11 mm)
New belt: 0.23-0.27 in (6-7 mm)
ADJUSTMENT
1. Loosen lock nut.
2. Rotate power steering pump as required to obtain proper tension of drive belt.
3. Tighten lock bolt.
Tighten lock bolt to 30 ft. lbs. (40 Nm).
