Purge Solenoid Control Solenoid: Testing and Inspection

Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Purge Solenoid Valve

Inspection

1. Disconnect the vacuum hoses from the purge control solenoid valve.

2. Verify that no air flows through the valve.
3. Disconnect the valve connector and apply 12 volt battery voltage as shown in the figure.
4. Verify that air flows through the valve.
5. If no air flows, replace the valve.
6. Reinstall the valve connector.

7. Reconnect the vacuum hoses onto the purge control solenoid valve.
