Clockspring Assembly / Spiral Cable: Adjustments
Clockspring Alignment
1. Temporarily install the steering wheel and turn the front wheels so that they are pointing straight ahead.
NOTE: An alignment pin is used to aid in the alignment of the clockspring connector when Installing the steering wheel onto the steering column.
An alignment pin is provided with a new combination switch, but a substitute pin will be needed when realigning an original clockspring.
2. Rotate the clockspring clockwise until it stops.
NOTE: The clockspring connector may be damaged if it is over-tightened.
3. Rotate the clockspring connector counter-clockwise 2.75 turns.
4. Align the arrow on the clockspring connector plate to the arrow on the connector housing.
5. Install the steering wheel, making sure that the steering wheel is properly aligned to the steering shaft.
CAUTION: The clockspring connector may be damaged if the steering wheel is installed off-center.
