Starter Clutch Pedal Position Switch: Description and Operation
Clutch Pedal Position (CPP) Switch (Manual Transmission Vehicles)
The clutch pedal position switch is a safety switch which closes the circuit between the starter and the ignition switch when the clutch pedal is depressed.
Transmission Range (TR) Switch (Automatic Transmission Vehicles)
The transmission range switch performs the same function as the clutch pedal position switch. When the transmission is in NEUTRAL or PARK, the
circuit to the starter solenoid is closed. If the transmission is in any other position the circuit is open and the starter will not operate.
