6. Loosen the tensioner lock bolt to apply tension to the timing belt.
NOTE: Do not turn the crankshaft counterclockwise.
7. Turn the crankshaft two turns clockwise and verify that the timing marks are correctly aligned. If they are not, remove the timing belt and repeat
steps 3-7.
8. Tighten the timing belt tensioner lock bolt.
Tighten the lock bolt to 33 ft.lbs. (45 Nm)
9. Verify that the timing belt deflection is within specifications midway between the crankshaft pulley and the camshaft pulley by applying moderate
pressure.
Deflection: 0.43-0.51 inch (11.0-13.0 mm) at 22 lbs. (98 N)
10. If the timing belt deflection is not correct, remove the timing belt and repeat steps 3-9 after installing a new tensioner spring.
11. Install the timing belt cover.
12. Start the vehicle.
13. Verify that the ignition timing is correct.
