Sportage Air Conditioner Compressor
This bulletin provides information about changes to the Sportage Air Conditioner Compressor, A/C Compressor Bracket, Suction/Discharge Hoses,
Cooling Fan, Radiator Cowling and Fresh Air Duct and includes replacement procedures for 1995 and 1996 models.
The A/C Compressor installed in all 1996 and 1997 Sportage models features a swash-plate design which is different from the vane-type A/C
Compressor installed in 1995 Sportage models. While both types of A/C Compressor are widely used in automotive applications, the swash-plate style
A/C Compressor is more efficient at low engine and vehicle speeds.
The diameter of the Cooling Fan installed in all 1997 Sportage models has been increased from 15 inches (used in 1995 and 1996 models) to 16 inches
for improved air flow through the radiator at low engine and vehicle speeds.
To resolve customer complaints relating to unsatisfactory air conditioner performance at low speeds or during "Stop and go" driving conditions when
outside ambient air temperatures are high, specific air conditioner parts should be installed in "sets" for 1995 and 1996 Sportage models. Refer to "A/C
Parts "Sets"/TSB Installation Procedures" in this bulletin.
