Timing Belt: Service and Repair
Inspection

TIMING BELT INSPECTION

1. Check the timing belt for damage wear, peeling cracking and/or hardening.
2. Replace if necessary.
3. Replace the timing belt if there is any grease or oil on it.

TIMING BELT TENSIONER AND IDLER PULLEY INSPECTION

NOTE:  Do not clean the tensioner with cleaning fluids. If necessary, use a soft rag to wipe it clean and avoid scratching the tensioner.

1. Check the timing belt tensioner and idler pulley for smooth rotation and abnormal noise.
2. Replace if necessary.

TIMING BELT TENSIONER SPRING INSPECTION

1. Check the free length of the tensioner spring.

Free length: 2.240 in (56.9 mm)

2. Replace if necessary.

TIMING BELT PULLEY AND CAMSHAFT PULLEY INSPECTION

NOTE:  Do not clean the pulleys with cleaning fluids. If necessary, use a rag to wipe them clean.
