EGR Control Solenoid: Testing and Inspection

Test

INSPECTION

1. Disconnect the vacuum hose from the right side of the EGR solenoid valve and remove it.
2. Blow into the solenoid valve and verify that air does not flow through the valve.
3. Disconnect the solenoid valve connector.
4. Apply 12V battery voltage between the solenoid and ground.
5. Blow into the solenoid valve and verify that air flows through the valve.
6. If no air flows, replace the valve assembly.
7. Reinstall the valve connector.
8. If the solenoid valve functions properly, reconnect the vacuum hoses.
