Radiator: Description and Operation
RADIATOR
The radiator acts as a heat exchanger. Engine heat is transferred to the coolant and lower tanks connected by a core. The upper tank includes the
radiator filler neck, the reservoir overflow outlet, and the coolant inlet that receives the hot coolant from the engine.
The radiator core is comprised of a series of finned cooling tubes. The cooling tube fins increase the surface area over which the outside air can pass
to remove heat from the coolant. The lower tank includes the coolant outlet that routes cooled coolant back to the engine and a drain cock for radiator
and cooling system draining.
