Oil Filter: Service and Repair

Removal 

Caution:  Be careful if the engine and filter are hot.

1. Remove the oil filter.
2. Use a clean shop rag to wipe off the mounting surface on the engine.

Notice:  Be sure that the rubber seal is removed with the oil filter.

Installation 

1. Apply a small amount of engine oil to the rubber seal of the new filter.

2. Install the oil filter until the rubber seal contacts the base and then tighten the filter 1-1/6 turns with a filter wrench.
3. Start the engine and check for any oil leaks around the filter.
4. Check oil level, add oil it necessary.

Oil filter capacity: 0.21 quart (0.20 L)
