Engine Oil: Service and Repair
Replacement
1. Make sure that the vehicle is on level ground.
2. Start the engine and let it warm up to normal operating temperature.
3. Turn the engine off and wait for five minutes (for hot engine oil to cool).
4. Remove the oil filler cap.
Caution: Be careful when draining, the oil is very hot
5. Remove the oil drain plug and drain the engine oil into a suitable container.
Notice: It is best to change the oil filter when the engine oil is changed.
6. Install the drain plug with a new gasket.
Tighten the drain plug to 26 ft. lbs. (35 Nm).
7. Refill the engine with the specified type and amount of oil.
Engine oil capacity: 4.375 quarts (4.14 L)
8. Replace the oil filler cap.
9. Start the engine and let it warm up to normal operating temperature.
10. Turn the engine off.
11. Wait for five minutes to ensure correct oil level reading.
12. Remove the engine oil dipstick and clean it with a paper towel or shop rag.
13. Insert the engine oil dipstick back in all the way and remove it again, keeping the tip pointed down.
Notice: Do not add too much oil. If oil level is above the "F" line, the engine could be damaged.
14. If the oil level is at or below the L line, then add enough oil to bring it up to the F line.
15. Replace engine oil dipstick.
