Seat Belt: Testing and Inspection
Front Seat Belt Inspection
Front Seat Belts (2 Door)
1. Inspect buckle assembly mounting to ensure that it is secure.
2. Inspect anchor assembly mounting to ensure that it is secure
3. Remove B-pillar lower trim.
4. Inspect retractor assembly mounting to ensure that it is secure.
5. Install B-pillar lower trim.
6. Extend the seat belt fully to ensure its motion is smooth and easy.
7. Retract the seat belt fully to ensure its motion is smooth and easy.
8. Buckle the seat belt. Pull firmly on each side of the buckle to ensure that it is secure.
9. Press the buckle release button to ensure that it releases correctly and returns to its original position. Do not disassemble either the buckle or
retractor assemblies. They are not repairable.
10. Inspect the seat belt reminder system with the driver's seat belt retracted. Turn the ignition key to the "ON" position. The seat belt icon on the
warning and indicator panel will light up and a chime will be heard. The lighted icon indicates that the driver's seat belt is not buckled. The chime
indicates only that the key is in the ignition switch and has nothing to do with the seat belt. Turn the ignition key to the "LOCK" position. The seat
belt icon will extinguish, but the chime will continue because the key is still in the ignition. Turn the key to the "ON" position. Just as before, the
seat belt icon will light up and the chime will be heard. Buckle the driver's seat belt. The seat belt icon will extinguish, but the chime will continue.
Turn the key to the "LOCK" position and remove the key.
