Steering Wheel: Testing and Inspection
Looseness of Steering Wheel and Column
1. Hold steering wheel by the rim at two sides and attempt to move the steering wheel axially (in and out), and at right angles to the axis.
2. Check for movement of the steering wheel and for noises from the steering column and intermediate shaft joints.
3. There should be no perceptible movement of the steering wheel, nor noises indicating looseness.
