Tie Rod: Service and Repair
Tie Rod End Assembly (RH)
Removal
1. Raise and support vehicle.
2. Remove right tire and wheel assembly.
3. Mark tie rod assembly for inboard/outboard ends to aid in installation.
4. Remove cotter pins at each tie rod end assembly.
5. Remove nuts at each tie rod end assembly.
6. At outboard end, separate tie rod end assembly from steering knuckle arm using ball joint puller.
7. At inboard end, separate tie rod end assembly from center link using ball joint puller.
8. Remove tie rod assembly.
Installation
1. Position tie rod end assembly on steering knuckle arm and on center link.
2. Install nuts at state of the tie rod end assemblies.
Tighten nuts to 36 ft. lbs. (49 Nm).
3. Install new cotter pin through nut at each end of tie rod assembly.
4. Install right tire and wheel assembly.
5. Lower vehicle.
