Tie Rod: Service and Repair
Tie Rod End Assembly (LH)

Removal 

1. Raise and support vehicle.
2. Remove left tire and wheel assembly.

3. Mark tie rod assembly for inboard/outboard ends to aid in installation.
4. Remove cotter pin at each tie rod end assembly.
5. Remove nut at each tie rod end assembly.
6. At outboard end, separate tie rod end assembly from axle knuckle arm using ball joint puller.
7. At inboard end, separate tie rod end assembly from center link using ball joint puller.
8. Remove tie rod assembly.

Installation 

1. Position tie rod assembly on axle knuckle arm and on center link.

2. Install nut at each tie rod end assembly.

Tighten nut to 36 ft. lbs. (49 Nm). 

3. Install new cotter pin through nut at each tie rod end assembly.
4. Install left tire and wheel assembly.
5. Lower vehicle.
