If it is necessary to remove refrigerant oil from the new compressor (based on the quantity of refrigerant removed in Step 4), remove the two (2)
A/C compressor shipping cap bolts and caps, then remove the amount of refrigerant oil (determined in Step 4) from the new A/C compressor.
CAUTION
The A/C Compressor is shipped with a slight nitrogen gas charge. Carefully remove the shipping cap bolts and caps. Always wear eye
protection when performing this procedure.
* NOTICE
To prevent moisture contamination, reinstall the two (2) A/C compressor shipping caps until the compressor is installed later in this procedure.
Removal
1.
Disconnect the negative battery cable.
* NOTICE
For Sportage models equipped with the Kia logic control audio unit, it will be necessary to "reset" the audio unit anti-theft system when the
negative battery terminal is reconnected.
2.
Remove the evaporative emissions canister from its bracket and set it aside.
