Valve: Testing and Inspection
Valve Inspection
1. Inspect each valve for the following:
a. Damaged or bent stem.
b. Roughness or damage to face.
c. Damage or uneven wear of stem tip.
Replace or resurface if necessary.
2. Check the valve head margin thickness and replace if necessary. Margin thickness
IN: 0.033 inch (0.85 mm) min.
EX: 0.035 inch (0.9 mm) min.
3. Measure the valve length.
IN: 4.0622 inch (103.18 mm) min.
EX: 4.0921 inch (103.94 mm) min.
4. If not within specification, replace the valve.
5. Measure the valve stem diameter in the directions and locations shown. Diameter
IN: 0.2350-0.2356 inch (5.970-5.985 mm).
EX: 0.2348-0.2354 inch (5.965-5.980 mm).
6. If not within specifications, replace the valve.
