Temperature Gauge: Description and Operation
Battery voltage is supplied to the instrument panel indicator lights and gauges from the "METER" fuse when the Ignition is in "ON" or "START."
Engine Coolant Temperature Gauge
The movement of the temperature gauge's pointer is controlled by the magnetic field of two internally located coils. The resistance of the sending unit is
in series with just one coil in the gauge, causing the alignment of the magnetic field to vary as the sender resistance varies. This change in alignment
results in movement of the pointer. A low resistance equates to a high gauge reading.
