Engine Oil: Testing and Inspection

INSPECTION

1. Make sure that the vehicle is on level ground.
2. Start the engine and let it warm up to normal operating temperature.
3. Turn the engine OFF. Wait for 5 minutes.

NOTE:  If you do not wait, the engine oil gauge might not show the actual level.

4. Remove the engine oil gauge and clean it with a shop rag.
5. Fully insert the engine oil gauge and remove it again, keeping the tip pointed down.

NOTE:  Do not add too much oil. If the oil level is above the "A" line, the engine could be damaged.

6. If the oil level is at or below the "L" line, add enough oil to bring it up to the "F" line.
