1. Push the driven gear to one side of the body. Using a feeler gauge, measure the clearance.
Standard: 0.0028 - 0.0059 inch (0.07 - 0.15 mm)
Service limit: 0.0118 inch (0.30 mm)
NOTICE: If the body clearance is greater than the maximum, replace the oil pump.
2. Measure the clearance between the drive and driven gear teeth and the crescent shaped part of the pump body.
Standard: 0.0044 - 0.0055 inch (0.11 - 0.14 mm)
Service limit: 0.0118 inch (0.30 mm)
NOTICE:

Measure with torque converter installed.

If the tip clearance is greater than the maximum, replace the oil pump.
3. Using a steel straight edge and feeler gauge, measure the side clearance between the inner gear/outer gear and pump body.
Standard: 0.0008 - 0.0019 inch (0.02 - 0.05 mm)
Service limit: 0.0039 inch (0.1 mm)
NOTICE: If the side clearance is greater than the maximum, replace the oil pump.
