1.

Verify that the Ignition key is "OFF."

2.

Disconnect the battery negative cable.

3.

Remove ECM cover using suitable tool to remove clips.

4.

Unplug the ECM connectors and remove ECM.

NOTE:

Ensure that the white anti-back-out strips have not fallen out of connectors. If so, replace them in the connectors.

CAUTION:

Electronic components can be damaged by ESD (Electro Static Discharge), the discharge of static electricity that is normally carried on the
human body. This damage can occur immediately or at a later date in the components' life. It is therefore imperative that all anti-static care
points listed below are followed to prevent future reliability issues occurring.

ESD care points:

All ECM rework MUST be carried out in the anti-static rework area.

Always wear the anti-static wristband when in the anti-static rework area and when handling ECM.

ECM cover panels must be removed before working in the anti-static work area.

5.

Position grounding wristband in place and verify that anti-static mat is properly grounded.

6.

Place ECM on grounded anti-static mat with the red connector side up. (Figure 1)

7.

Remove five T20 Torx screws from the ECM cover and remove cover.

8.

Remove eight Torx screws holding circuit board.

9.

Fold circuit board over onto mat exposing chips.

CAUTION:

Circuit board is easily damaged. Do not use screwdrivers or the like to pry covers off.
