DETAIL

Some Defender 90/110 power steering systems may exhibit a groaning type noise when turning the steering wheel rapidly toward the left. This noise
occurs momentarily as the steering wheel passes a given position. The given position differs from vehicle to vehicle, depending on the relationship of the
steering box input shaft to the steering wheel.

It has been identified that the noise is created by resonance in the outlet line of the steering box, triggered by the steering pump.

ACTION REQUIRED

Upon customer complaint of groaning noise when turning the steering wheel, follow the procedure below.

PARTS INFORMATION

ANR 3132 Replacement steering box outlet pipe

PROCEDURE

Replace OEM outlet pipe, from steering box to reservoir, with ANR-3132 (refer to Workshop Manual Section 4, Subsection 57, pages 21-25).

NOTE:

When fitting, position the pipe so that it passes over the bleed nipple on the top of the steering box. Carefully bend the pipe at the box end as
necessary to ensure that adequate clearance exists between the pipe and the steering box.
