Discovery Series II Maintenance Enhancement

SITUATION

Without lubrication deterioration and corrosion can affect the door hinges and particularly the rear end-door hinges on a Discovery Series II. The
currently published Maintenance Schedule specifies:

"Lubricate door locks, check straps, hood latch and safety catch, fuel door hinges"

RESOLUTION

To ensure that all door hinges, including the rear end-door hinges, are included in this step and are routinely lubricated, Land Rover is amending step 2.3
in the Maintenance Schedule to include a specific reference to door hinges. The new wording posted on the InfoTrail versions of the check list reads as
follows:

"2.3 Lubricate door locks, check straps, all door hinges, hood latch and safety catch, fuel door hinges"

The lubricant to be used for the hinges is a multipurpose Lithium based grease 
N.L.G.I. consistency No.2. The recommended brand name is Castrol Syntec.
