AFFECTED VEHICLE RANGE

SITUATION:

MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LAMP (MIL) ACTIVATION SOFTWARE

On vehicles with LEV and ULEV specifications, a fault exists in the software that monitors the electrical connection between the Diagnostic Leak - Tank
Module (DMTL) pump motor and the Engine Control Module (ECM). An open circuit or short circuit to ground in the wire between the DMTL and
ECM that switches on the pump motor should result in an MIL illumination and the appropriate DTC should be stored in OBD system. In the production
software configuration these failure modes will only be reported by means of a temporary Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC). The software does not
function as intended.
