Recall - Suspension ACE Pump Banjo Fitting Torque
No: RB149
Ref:
Issue: 1
Date: April 23, 2004
RECALL
ACE High Pressure Pump Banjo Torque Verification
AFFECTED VEHICLE RANGE:
Discovery Series II (LT)
YA258269 to 3A824597
Build Dates:
13 December 1999 to 17 June 2003
SITUATION:
INCORRECTLY TIGHTENED BANJO FITTING MAY LEAK
Land Rover has determined that the Active Cornering Enhancement (ACE) pump banjo connection on Discovery Series II models may, under certain
conditions, experience torque relaxation and allow fluid to leak past the joint. The loss of fluid could lead to low system pressure causing an amber or
red warning light on the instrument console to illuminate. The ACE system will revert to "locked" mode if excessive fluid is lost and the system ceases to
operate. In the presence of an ignition source there is a possibility that the leaking hydraulic fluid could catch fire.
RESOLUTION:
NOTE:
It is important that the DDW "Vehicle Inquiry" screen be consulted prior to any vehicle inspection or repair.
VERIFY BANJO TORQUE
All Discovery Series II models fitted with ACE within the affected VIN range will require the pump banjo connection to be checked for tightness as
detailed in this bulletin. If incorrect torque is identified by the inspection, the proper torque must be applied using new seals.
