SITUATION:

HARSH OR ABRUPT SHIFTS

The customer may complain that transmission shift patterns are abrupt or jerky. The fine filter mesh of the pressure regulator may become blocked and
cause harsh shifts from 1 to 2, 3 to 2, and 2 to 1.

RESOLUTION:

REPLACE PRESSURE REGULATOR SOLENOID VALVE

Should a customer express concern regarding the shift quality, after verification of the problem replace the automatic transmission pressure regulator
solenoid valve with a new specification solenoid valve with a larger screen mesh.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

REPLACE PRESSURE REGULATOR SOLENOID

1.

Refer to RAVE section 44.40.01 and remove the automatic transmission valve body assembly.

2.

Place the valve body assembly on a clean workbench with pressure regulator side facing upwards.
