Brake Caliper: Service and Repair

Brake Caliper/Carrier Assembly

Service Repair No - 70.55.28

Remove

1. Raise front of vehicle.

WARNING:  Do not work on or under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always support the vehicle on safety stands.

2. Remove road wheel.

3. Remove and discard the 2 guide pins from caliper housing.
4. Release caliper housing from caliper carrier and tie aside.

5. Remove 2 brake pads and retainers from caliper carrier.

6. Remove 2 bolts securing caliper carrier and remove carrier.
7. Suitably identify the top and bottom guide pins to their fitted positions, remove guide pins and seals from carrier.

CAUTION: Top and bottom guide pins are not interchangeable, take great care to ensure that they are refitted in their original locations.
The lower guide pin has a fluted rubber bush fitted to it.

Refit

1. Clean guide pins and carrier mating faces.
