Front Brake Caliper Guide Pin Grease

SITUATION:
INCORRECT LUBRICATION OF FRONT BRAKE CALIPER GUIDE PINS

The bottom brake guide pin (brass appearance) has a rubber bushing installed at one end. The application of a non-Land Rover approved grease to the
bushing may cause the bushing material to swell. This can result in the brake guide pin stiffening in the brake caliper bracket, restricting the brake
housing sliding action.

RESOLUTION:

ONLY LAND ROVER APPROVED GREASE TO BE USED

Use only Land Rover approved grease for lubricating the brake caliper guide pins. The grease is packaged in brake pin replacement sets and is available
separately. Should the rubber bushing have been contaminated by a non-approved grease, replace the guide pins with the kit listed below and apply the
correct grease.

Brake calipers returned under Warranty that have been found to have had non-approved Land Rover grease applied, may have the Warranty Claim
rejected.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

INSPECT BRAKE CALIPER FOR SWELLED GUIDE PINS BUSHINGS

NOTE:

If swelling of the bushings on the guide pins has occurred, a non-approved Land Rover grease has been applied to the front brake guide pins.

Remove all traces of the incorrect grease and replace the guide pins from the specified kit (SEE100340).

Use only Land Rover approved grease SYL500010 or grease packet in brake pin kits SEE100340 to lubricate the brake caliper guide pins.*
