Contamination

AFFECTED VEHICLE RANGE:

Freelander (LN) All

SITUATION:
MIL ILLUMINATES AND VEHICLE GOES INTO "LIMP-HOME" MODE

A customer may report a concern that the "Service Engine Soon" (MIL) warning lamp illuminates and the vehicle goes into "Limp Home" mode. Codes
P0606 or P0102 may be discovered upon investigation. The throttle body electrical connector may be contaminated or have a poor connection.

RESOLUTION:

INSTALL NEW LINK HARNESS TO THROTTLE BODY

NOTE: 

Fault code P0102 is related to the MAF sensor, and in this instance it is flagged as a result of the throttle issue. DO NOT carry out any repairs on the
MAF sensor unless the code reappears after road testing the vehicle.

Should a customer report the MIL and "limp-home" symptoms with codes P0606 and P0102 stored and with the possibility of codes P1141, P1142,
P1628, P1629, P1636, P1637, P1638, P1639, P1677, P1687 and P2070, install a new link harness to the throttle body electrical connector. Follow the
Repair Procedure outlined below.
