Squeak from Steering Gear
AFFECTED VEHICLE RANGE:
CONDITION SUMMARY:
Situation:
While turning the steering wheel, a squeak noise may be heard from the steering column area. This noise may be caused by a lack of lubrication to the
power steering gear pinion seal.
Action:
Only in the event of a customer concern of the above, refer to the Repair Procedure below to install a steering gear pinion seal kit.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:
REPLACE STEERING GEAR PINION SEAL
1. Refer to Workshop Manual section 211-02: Power Steering > Removal and Installation > Steering Gear to remove the steering gear.
CAUTION:
Do not over-tighten vice or damage feed pipes.
2. Using soft-face jaws, secure steering gear in vice with pinion located vertically.
