Electric Parking Brake Warning Lamp Illuminated
Updated information is shown with asterisks.
AFFECTED VEHICLE RANGE:
Land Rover LR3 (LA)
VIN: 5A000259 to 5A339115
CONDITION SUMMARY:
EPB WARNING LAMP ILLUMINATED
A customer may report a concern that the electronic parking brake (EPB) amber or red warning lamps are illuminated or that it is not possible to release
the parking brake. A possible fault code displayed in EPB module is "C1A0016" - *control module circuit voltage below threshold.*
Cause:
The EPB wiring harness has an "open" type splice joint that provides a 12-volt supply to the EPB module. The customer concern above is a result of
corrosion of this splice joint due to water ingress preventing the 12 volt supply reaching the EPB module.
Action:
Should a customer express concern regarding the above symptoms, refer to the Service Procedure detailed in this bulletin to replace the splice joint.
*When performing this repair, refer to Technical Bulletin LA204-001 Issue 2 also and inspect for EAS connector water contamination.*
