PROCEDURE
NOTE:
Before conversion to R-134a, perform the following checks to ensure system component integrity and function:

Determine if system is charged.

Verify system operation and test for leaks.
Inspect for deteriorated, abraded, or otherwise damaged hoses or piping.

System Disassembly
SYSTEM DISASSEMBLY
CAUTION:
Refer to the precautions and warnings in the Land Rover Workshop Manual.
1.
Recover R-12 refrigerant and complete discharge.
2.
Disconnect the battery.
3.
Disconnect and remove the following components:

Receiver drier from mounting bracket
^
A/C service valves from compressor
^
Electrical connections from compressor
4.
Remove compressor from vehicle.
5.
Drain all oil from compressor and discard used oil. (Figure 1)

ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS
CAUTION:
ESTER oil is NOT "PAG" oil. ESTER oil is available from HVAC supply companies. Verify oil is within shelf life and has been stored in a properly
sealed container.
1.
Fill compressor with specified amount of ESTER oil through drain/fill plug.

Defender 110 - 240 ml (8 fl oz)
