Throttle Potentiometer - Adjustment Settings

THROTTLE POTENTIOMETER - 1987/1988

To: ALL RANGE ROVER DEALERS

Throttle potentiometers are often replaced because they will not "hold" a new adjustment or setting. This is usually due to deep grooves from the
retaining screws, which cause the throttle potentiometer to fall back to the old adjustment.

In order to avoid replacing an otherwise normally functioning potentiometer, you may:

1.

Add larger flat washers to retaining screws, or in extreme cases;

2.

Carefully hand file the surfaces on which the screws/washers mount to remove the depressions caused by previous torquing.

Remember...before-setting the potentiometer, make sure that the engine is at operating temperature and that the throttle linkage is correctly adjusted. A
throttle plate which doesn't seat fully against its stop will cause future EFI light problems.
