Coolant Level Sensor: Service and Repair

WARNING:  Do not remove the expansion tank filler cap when the engine is hot because the cooling system is pressurized and personal
scalding could result.

REMOVE

1. Disconnect the multi-plug from the sensor.

2. Remove the expansion tank filler cap by first turning it counter-clockwise a quarter of a turn to allow pressure to escape, then turn it further in the

same direction and lift off.

3. Release the retaining nut and withdraw the sensor from the expansion tank.

REFIT

1. Reverse the removal instructions.
2. Start engine and run until normal running temperature is attained, thermostat open, check for coolant leaks around the sensor.
