SHIFT CABLE ADJUSTMENT

Prior to removal of the console trim plate and the indicator assembly, Check the shift cable adjustment as follows:

Squeeze and hold the shift handle release lever, then shift from park to neutral, while feeling the detent action from the transmission valve body in each
gear. When neutral gear has been selected (judging by the position of the indicator graphic AND by counting the transmission detent stops), release the
lever. Check that the shifter is centered and locked in the neutral position of the indexing gate by gently pushing forward and rearward on the shifter
while watching the release lever. The lever should NOT drop further downward and the shifter should not move more than 2 to 3 mm in either direction.
