Adaptive Headlight Feature Inoperative

AFFECTED VEHICLE RANGE:

CONDITION SUMMARY:

ADAPTIVE LIGHTING SOFTWARE MALFUNCTION

A customer may complain that the adaptive lighting feature is inoperative. Although the head lamps illuminate correctly when turned on, the leveling and
swiveling feature does not operate on either lamp when the steering wheel is turned or during "calibration" at the time the lights are initially switched on.
The AFS warning lamp does not illuminate to signal that the fault exists. DTCs are not stored to be read by WDS.

Cause:
A software error within the control module exists. The problem cannot be cleared and reprogrammed using T4/WDS.

Action:
When a customer complains of inoperative adaptive lighting, perform the Service Procedure detailed in this bulletin and replace the lighting control
module.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

REPLACE LIGHTING CONTROL MODULE

1.

Verify that the lighting control module does not cycle the head lamps through the "calibration" cycle when the head lamps are turned on.

When it has been determined that the head lamps are not functioning correctly, refer to GTR Section 86.54.06 and install the latest configuration
lighting control module (YWC500323).
