Tie Rod End: Service and Repair
Tie Rod End
Service Repair No - 57.55.07
Removal
WARNING: Do not work on or under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always support the vehicle on safety stands.
1. Raise and support the vehicle.
2. Remove the front wheel and tire.
3. Loosen the tie rod end locking nut.
4. Using the special tool release the tie rod end.

Remove and discard the nut.
CAUTION: Note the number of turns when removing the tie rod end to aid installation.
5. Remove the tie rod end.

Remove and discard the locking ring.
Installation
1. Install the tie rod end.

Install the locking ring.
2. Secure the tie rod end.
1) Install new nuts.

Tighten new nuts to 70 Nm (52 ft. lbs.).
3. Install the front wheel and tire.

Tighten the wheel nuts to 140 Nm (103 ft. lbs.).
4. Check, and if necessary, adjust the wheel alignment.
