4. Remove and discard two Allen screws securing the steering column tilt adjustment motor to the steering column. (Arrowed in Figure 4).

NOTE:  The drive spindle (inset in Figure 4) can fall from its location when removing the tilt adjustment motor. Care should be taken to ensure
that the drive spindle is not lost or damaged during this procedure.

5. Carefully remove the steering column tilt adjustment motor from the steering column tilt adjustment drive gear.

6. Install the original drive spindle into the new steering column tilt adjustment motor. (Arrowed in Figure 5).

NOTE:  It may be necessary to adjust the column tilt adjustment drive gear ('A' in Figure 6) to align the drive spindle and the drive gear and
achieve engagement of the steering column tilt adjustment motor.

7. Align the steering column tilt adjustment motor to the steering column tilt adjustment drive gear.
8. Install by hand the two new Allen screws to secure the steering column tilt adjustment motor.
9. Evenly and progressively tighten adjustment motor securing Allen screws to 5.5 Nm (4.1 lbf-ft).

10. If the steering column tilt adjustment drive gear nut ('A' in Figure 6) moves on the shaft while engaging the steering column tilt adjustment motor,

torque the steering column tilt adjustment drive gear nut to 3 Nm (2.2 lbf-ft).

11. If a white paint mark is evident on the steering column tilt adjustment drive gear bearing housing ('B' in illustration 6), torque the steering column

tilt adjustment drive gear nut to 3 Nm (2.2 lbf-ft).

12. Connect the multi-plug connector to the steering column tilt adjustment motor.
13. Install the steering column lower trim to the steering column and secure with screws.
14. Install the steering column extension bellows to the steering column.
15. Refer to GTR General Information, Electrical Precautions or

Standard Workshop Practices and connect the battery ground cable.
