Air Suspension Diagnostic Procedures

CONDITION SUMMARY:

INCOMPLETE DIAGNOSIS RESULTS IN UNNECESSARY COMPONENT REPLACEMENT

Situation: 
Electronic Air Suspension air compressors are being replaced unnecessarily. When returned for inspection no defect is found. *It has come to Land
Rovers attention that the following incorrect repairs are being performed.

EAS ECU re-flashed and compressor replaced at the same time

EAS Compressor replaced without performing a re-flash*

Incorrect diagnosis can lead to unnecessary air compressor replacement. The component replacement may temporarily "repair" the vehicle by removing
symptoms, but if the root cause is not resolved the problem will re-occur.

Action: 
*Engineering has determined that performing a re-flash as a stand alone repair with the latest calibration will resolve the majority of complaints.* This
bulletin provides additional problem diagnostic information to prevent unnecessary air compressor replacement. Follow the procedures in this bulletin as
a guide before replacing the air compressor when investigating air suspension issues.

Under no circumstances should the air compressor's clam-shell casing be opened by the technician. This will result in a rejection of the warranty
claim. There are NO serviceable items within the air compressor clam-shell casing.
