13. Clean all traces of RTV sealant from sump and sump mating faces using a wide, flat-bladed implement or solvent.
14. Apply a bead of RTV sealant 5 mm wide across the cylinder block to front cover joint and across the cylinder block to rear main bearing joint.

Apply a globule of RTV to cover end of cruciform seal, (see illustration).

15. Fit new gasket to sump, ensuring that locating tags are correctly positioned.
16. Fit sump and tighten sump bolts and nuts in sequence illustrated to 23 Nm (17 ft. lbs.).
17. Fit and tighten bolts securing sump to bell housing to 45 Nm (33 ft. lbs.).
18. Lower vehicle.
19. Refill engine oil and fit dip stick.
20. Connect battery earth lead.
21. Fit battery cover and secure with fixings.
