ABS Power Unit: Service and Repair

NOTE:  Numbers in parentheses ( ) below refer to numbers in illustration.

REMOVAL 

1. Disconnect battery negative lead.
2. Remove accumulator assembly.
3. Position cloth to catch fluid spillage.
4. Release clip securing reservoir hose to pump.
5. Disconnect reservoir hose. Plug hose and connection.
6. Remove banjo bolt (6) securing high pressure hose to pump. Collect sealing washers and discard. Plug hose and connection.
7. Disconnect multiplugs (7) from motor and pressure switch.
8. Remove 3 nuts (8) securing pump/motor assembly to valance, then the assembly from vehicle.
9. Collect rubber mountings and inserts (9) from pump brackets.

INSTALLATION 

1. Install rubbers and inserts (9) to pump mountings.
2. Position pump/motor assembly to valance. Secure with nuts (8). Tighten to 8 Nm (6 ft. lbs.). 
3. Connect motor and pressure switch multiplugs (7).
4. Remove plugs from high pressure hose and pump.
5. Position high pressure hose to pump. Secure with banjo bolt (6) and new sealing washers. Tighten to 24 Nm (18 ft. lbs.). 
6. Remove plugs from reservoir hose and pump. Connect hose. Secure with clip.
7. Install accumulator.
8. Reconnect battery negative lead.
